Associate Professor, Molecular Microbiology, AGERI, ARC.

Dr. Wael received his B.Sc. (1994), Department of Animal Science and M.Sc. (2002) Department of Genetics, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Egypt. In 2002, I joined the research group of Prof. Bruce Hammock, University of California Davis, USA, for a short visit through the Molecular and Cell Biology Network (MCBN). In 2003, he joined the Department of Microbiology, Kobe University, Japan as a trainee for genetic characterization of soil microflora. In 2008, he awarded full degree scholarship (4 years) from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) where I received my Ph.D. in Molecular Virology, Institute for Organismic and Molecular Evolutionary Biology, Faculty of Biology, Johannes-Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. In 2011, he continued his career with post-doctoral fellowship at Julius Kühn-Institut, Darmstadt, Germany focusing on genetic characterization of baculoviruses. In 2012, He returned to AGERI, as a head of the Laboratory of Virology to study the baculovirus genome and biotechnological applications of baculoviruses. A personal grant from STDF and ASRT allowed me to initiate research on baculoviruses new isolates characterization and virus-host interaction. Afterward, he obtained a tenure position as research assistant professor at AGERI in 2009. Since 2017, He is working as a lecturer for molecular biology and biotechnology (Part time) at Department of Chemistry (Biotechnology Program), Faculty of Science, Cairo University. Currently, I became research associate professor in 2018 at AGERI. he serve the DAAD as Trustee and as Student Contest Committee.
